On October 19, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore, met to discuss plans for LeX+ 2027, exploring ways to turn student ideas into practical solutions that benefit communities and offer commercialization potential.
At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, Mr. Toh Ser Khoon, Senior Director at Singapore Polytechnic, and representatives from both institutions reviewed the outcomes of the LeX programs held in 2024, 2025, and 2026. Lessons learned over the three years provided a foundation for discussing improvements for 2027.

The discussion centered on LeX+, a follow-up initiative designed to further develop promising projects after students complete the 12-day experiential learning program. Selected ideas and prototypes will undergo further research and refinement to become viable solutions that address community needs and offer opportunities for commercialization.

To align the program’s objectives with local needs, the two institutions conducted site visits in Binh My Commune to identify suitable challenges for LeX+ 2027. They also met with the Commune People’s Committee, Binh My Cooperative, and the local business association to learn about production and business activities, identify challenges, and determine which issues need to be addressed.
The visits included the Ham Thuy Dao ecotourism site in Rach Day, a dairy farm, and water spinach plots operated by local households. Learning about their operations, facilities, and production conditions will help assess opportunities for experiential learning and identify potential applied research topics.

Both institutions also discussed opportunities to work with local authorities, the cooperative, and businesses in Binh My throughout the project development process. Earlier, on October 9, HUTECH signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Binh My Commune People’s Committee covering education, research, innovation, and green, sustainable agriculture. This agreement provides a foundation for stronger local engagement and for incorporating real-world challenges into student research and solution development.
