Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has reached a new milestone in its international engagement by officially joining the International Association of Universities (IAU), expanding opportunities for collaboration and access to global knowledge.
Having officially joined as an Observer Member in October 2026, HUTECH is now part of the IAU network, which brings together nearly 600 members across more than 120 countries. Notably, HUTECH is one of only two universities in Vietnam to hold IAU membership.

IAU’s membership criteria cover legal status, teaching, research, and educational quality assurance. Membership gives HUTECH further opportunities to access initiatives, expertise, and resources that support educational development.
Through IAU, HUTECH can explore programs and initiatives across four strategic priorities: Values-Based Leadership, Higher Education and Research for Sustainability, Ethical Internationalisation, and Digital Transformation of Higher Education. These priorities are directly relevant to strengthening university governance, enhancing educational quality, and expanding the use of technology in higher education.

The University also gains access to advanced search features in the World Higher Education Database (WHED) and to Higher Education Policy, a peer-reviewed journal focused on higher education policy. These resources support information searches, policy research, and the study of institutional development practices worldwide.
IAU conferences, forums, and professional programs offer further opportunities for HUTECH to engage with university leaders, experts, and international education organizations. These connections can help the University identify potential partners, exchange experience, and develop relevant collaborative programs.
In addition, IAU’s Member News section provides another channel for HUTECH to share its teaching and research activities, events, and notable achievements with the international academic community.
Through these new connections, HUTECH aims to further enhance educational quality and respond to global trends in higher education
Building on these new connections, the University aims to make effective use of professional resources, learn from international experience, and develop practical, sustainable partnerships. These efforts will support continued improvements in educational quality, research capacity, and the University’s ability to respond to global trends in higher education.
