Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry works with Michigan State University to advance joint education and research initiatives

As part of its ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed Professor Rinosh Mani from Michigan State University (MSU), USA, for a working session on May 30.
 
During the meeting, representatives from both institutions discussed specific directions for collaboration. The focus was placed on fostering joint scientific research projects, implementing faculty and student exchange programs, developing internationally linked academic offerings, and enhancing the transfer of advanced technologies in modern livestock farming.

HUTECH and MSU discuss outline specific directions for collaboration
 
Professor Rinosh Mani expressed his admiration for the Faculty’s practice-oriented training model, highlighting its alignment with real-world industry needs. He also introduced Michigan State University—established in 1855 and recognized as one of the world’s leading public research institutions. MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine consistently ranks among the top in the U.S., known for its pioneering research in animal health, public health, and food safety. With its cutting-edge laboratories and extensive global partnerships, MSU is committed to training highly qualified veterinarians and contributing to sustainable livestock development and public health protection.

Professor Mani also presented the USDA Program (U.S. Department of Agriculture), which encompasses a broad range of policies and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, ensuring food safety, conserving natural resources, and supporting rural communities. Through scholarships, training, and technology transfer, the USDA Program enhances international cooperation and connects universities, research institutions, farmers, and global businesses. He extended an invitation for HUTECH’s faculty and students to participate in the program—highlighting that in 2024, Lecturer Truong Anh Thy of the Faculty had successfully taken part in the initiative.

The MSU representative also introduced the USDA Program and extended an invitation for the Faculty’s lecturers and students to take part
 
Representing the Faculty, Dr. Nguyen Vu Thuy Hong Loan, Dean, provided an overview of its establishment, achievements in education and research, and its ongoing international partnerships. Professor Mani was also invited to visit the Faculty’s specialized laboratories, which are actively supporting both teaching and research activities.

The meeting marks a promising step forward for both institutions in advancing joint efforts in research and education
 
Following the meeting, Professor Mani visited a high-tech dairy farm that applies Israeli agricultural technologies. The farm is part of the Center for Crop, Livestock, and Aquaculture Breeding located in Pham Van Hai Commune, Binh Chanh District—one of the Faculty’s key partners. There, he observed the automated systems used for herd management, feeding, and milking, and praised HUTECH’s proactive integration of advanced technologies into its training programs. He noted that this approach plays a vital role in preparing a highly skilled workforce for Vietnam’s livestock industry in the context of global integration.
