On July 7, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially launched its Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation. The new institute provides a strong foundation for applying technological research to teaching and learning, university governance, student services, and industry engagement.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dr. Kieu Xuan Hung, Chairman of the University Board of Directors, emphasized the Institute's role in advancing HUTECH's vision of becoming a digital university. "Digital transformation is both an essential and inevitable direction for HUTECH in its next stage of development. We expect the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation to contribute to the development of digital teaching systems, enhance student support tools, and create innovative solutions that serve education while addressing the practical needs of businesses and the wider community," he said.

Building on the strengths of HUTECH's Faculty of Information Technology in education, research, and industry collaboration, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation is committed to developing practical AI solutions. Its primary focus is to drive innovation in education at HUTECH while expanding technology transfer initiatives for businesses and strategic partners.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Dinh Bay, Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, "Our goal is to bring our research into society by helping businesses adopt artificial intelligence more deeply and effectively in their operations. The Institute's technology solutions will follow a structured process of research, testing, and refinement before being deployed on a larger scale."

During its initial phase, the Institute is focusing on developing AI solutions for education, with Smart LMS serving as one of its flagship projects. The intelligent online learning platform is currently being piloted in selected classes. It is designed to enhance students' learning experience while helping lecturers develop teaching materials, design lessons, create instructional videos, and manage classes more efficiently.

These partnerships expand the Institute's collaborative network in research, education, technology transfer, and applied product development, creating stronger connections between the University's innovations and real-world industry needs.
