The project is financed by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany to support academic activities for the DAAD alumni network in Vietnam.
The project is led by Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH and a DAAD alumna. It is co-organized by Dr. Phan Bao Giang, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), Ms. Do Minh Tam, Deputy Head of the Office of Quality Assurance at UEF, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Director of the Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance at HUTECH.

The HUTECH Department of International Relations and Project Management plays a key role throughout the implementation of the project. Serving as the primary coordinating unit, the Department was responsible for developing, finalizing, and submitting the project proposal to DAAD. It also oversees project coordination, facilitates collaboration with partners, and provides administrative support to ensure the program is implemented effectively and on schedule.
As part of the project, HUTECH, in collaboration with the DAAD Alumni network and the DAAD Regional Office in Hanoi, will host the international conference From Exchange to Impact: DAAD Alumni Advancing Quality Assurance for Sustainable Higher Education Transformation in Vietnam on October 6, 2026.
The conference is expected to welcome Prof. Dr. Philipp Pohlenz from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, together with education experts, higher education leaders, DAAD alumni, and representatives from universities across Vietnam.
Participants will discuss topics including building a culture of quality in higher education, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into quality assurance systems, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and enhancing universities' capacity to respond to evolving social, technological, and labor market demands.
DAAD's support recognizes HUTECH's capacity to implement international cooperation projects
In addition to keynote presentations, the conference will feature interactive discussion sessions, a poster exhibition showcasing initiatives by the DAAD alumni network in Vietnam, and networking activities connecting Vietnamese and German higher education institutions. These activities will provide a platform for participants to exchange experiences, explore practical solutions, and identify opportunities for collaboration in education, research, accreditation, and university governance.
Receiving DAAD funding and being selected to host this international conference reflects HUTECH's proven capacity to implement international cooperation projects. It also strengthens academic ties between Vietnam and Germany while promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices to enhance the quality of higher education through sustainable approaches.
