Several areas of potential collaborations in education, academia, healthcare and business were discussed between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and partners affiliated with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, China, on August 25. The discussions aimed to expand opportunities for international learning and experiences while giving students greater exposure to diverse professional environments.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, expressed her appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Quang Huy, M.D, President of the ASEAN Association of Schools of Medical Technology, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Military-Civilian Medical Association, and Advisor to HUTECH School of Medicine and Health Sciences, for facilitating the connection and creating an opportunity for HUTECH to meet and engage directly with partners from Chongqing. Following the meeting, HUTECH hopes to continue connecting with suitable institutions and gradually develop collaboration in education, healthcare, business and industry partnerships.

In education, HUTECH aims to establish partnerships with universities in Chongqing that have strengths in transportation, engineering, business, healthcare and health sciences. Potential areas for collaboration include joint academic programs, 2+2 transfer programs, student and faculty exchanges, and academic exchanges, with the goal of developing suitable forms of cooperation between the institutions.

The institutions discuss directions for future collaboration
 
As an additional pathway for academic collaboration, the Chongqing side shared a 2+2 program currently being implemented between Chongqing Jiaotong University and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. This experience could serve as a reference for exploring a similar model with HUTECH, with potential initial connections to Chongqing Jiaotong University and other institutions offering related academic programs.

In healthcare, the two sides discussed the possibility of connecting HUTECH School of Medicine and Health Sciences with suitable universities, hospitals and healthcare institutions in Chongqing, gradually expanding opportunities for collaboration and professional exchange.

Alongside education and healthcare, business collaboration was also identified as an important area, particularly in medical equipment, technology, logistics and trade. Through HUTECH's network of partners and businesses, companies from Chongqing may explore opportunities for cooperation, investment and market development in Vietnam.

Building on the discussions, HUTECH and the Chongqing side agreed to continue connecting suitable institutions and organizations as a basis for exploring and gradually developing potential areas of cooperation.
 
Chongquing is one of China's four municipalities directly under the central government, together with Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. It is also an important economic, industrial and educational hub in western China. The city has a diverse higher education system, with strengths in energy, mineral resources, mechanical engineering, electrical power, transportation, business, law and medicine. Notable higher education institutions include Chongqing University, Southwest University and Chongqing Jiaotong University.
