HUTECH and Kristu Jayanti University sign MoU to strengthen academic ties between Vietnam and India

Research collaboration, faculty and student exchange, short-term academic programs, and the co-organization of international conferences are among the key areas of cooperation established by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), India, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on August 25.
Representing the partner university at the meeting were Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Vice-Chancellor, and Fr. Marialal Joseph, Director of the Centre for Research and Development and Director of the Office of Global Networking and Collaborations
Scientific research was one of the key areas of focus during the discussions. KJU currently maintains separate research streams for faculty members and students while encouraging its faculty to increase their academic publications. This provides a foundation for HUTECH and KJU to jointly undertake research projects, develop collaborative research groups, increase academic publications, and create more opportunities for students to engage in research throughout their studies.

Opportunities for students will also be expanded through short-term programs combining academic learning with cultural experiences, international student forums, and activities promoting knowledge and cultural exchange. The two universities aim to provide opportunities for HUTECH students to participate in academic programs, exchanges, and experiential learning activities in India. Programs may be flexibly tailored to different groups of learners and specific educational objectives.
At a more advanced academic level, HUTECH and KJU proposed co-organizing international conferences, engaging faculty members from both universities as keynote speakers, and promoting faculty and staff exchanges. The possibility of involving professors and faculty members as co-supervisors for doctoral candidates was also discussed, creating further opportunities for academic exchange, research network development, and stronger collaboration in postgraduate education.

The two universities also explored programs that connect education with practical experience, providing students with opportunities to engage with industry environments, innovation initiatives, and startup incubation activities as part of their learning experience.
HUTECH and KJU officially signed the MoU, expanding their comprehensive partnership
Building on the areas of cooperation agreed upon during the discussions, HUTECH and KJU officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement provides a foundation for the two universities to gradually translate their shared directions into joint research programs, academic exchanges, student mobility, faculty engagement, and international activities aligned with the strengths of both institutions.

Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) was established in 1999 and is managed by priests of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). The University currently has more than 18,500 students and over 900 faculty members, offering 57 undergraduate programs, 31 postgraduate programs, four postgraduate diploma programs, and 18 doctoral programs. It is currently ranked 34th in India by NIRF, with notable strengths in sustainability and green campus development, its innovation ecosystem, technology integration, global orientation, startup incubation, and scientific research.
