Connecting education with practical experience, increasing access to businesses, and opening up additional career development pathways for students were among the topics discussed by the Faculty of Korean Studies at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) during a visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Chuseok, Korea’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
In a cordial atmosphere, faculty representatives extended Chuseok greetings and expressed their appreciation for the Consulate General’s support for education, academic activities, and cultural exchange. Over time, the Consulate General has assisted with visa procedures for students participating in study programs in Korea, supported numerous professional events, and connected the Faculty with organizations, partners, and the Korean community in Vietnam.

This support creates further opportunities for students to experience learning and working environments grounded in practice. For example, in a practical training program at Korean enterprises, the two students nominated by the Faculty for the first cohort successfully completed the course. Six students nominated for the next cohort are currently undergoing the selection process, further expanding opportunities to experience a business environment while still studying.
Alongside practical training, the Faculty focuses on helping students envision their career paths early through programs that connect them directly with businesses. One example is “K-Career - Career Pathways at Korean Enterprises,” organized in cooperation with the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), which provides practical insights into the labor market, recruitment requirements, and the competencies needed to work in Korean business environments.

Through these experiences, knowledge of language and culture is placed within specific professional contexts. Students have opportunities to put their abilities to the test, identify skills they need to develop further, and proactively build development pathways aligned with their individual goals.
During the meeting, representatives of the Faculty of Korean Studies expressed their hope for continued support from the Consulate General in education, academic exchange, cultural exchange, and student support. Broader connections with Korean organizations, businesses, and communities are expected to open up further opportunities for learning, practical training, and career development for students.
The Chuseok visit helps strengthen the relationship between the two sides
The visit on the occasion of Chuseok further strengthened the relationship between HUTECH’s Faculty of Korean Studies and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City. Building on cooperation sustained through a range of concrete activities, the Faculty is gradually integrating Korean learning and working contexts into its educational provision, helping students engage with practical realities early and develop the competencies needed for their future careers.
