On July 7, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a working session with the Startup and Innovation Hub of Ho Chi Minh City (SIHUB) and the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association. The meeting focused on collaboration in urban agriculture, promoting innovation, digital transformation, green economic development, and effectively leveraging knowledge and technology resources to serve the city’s farming community.
At the session, representatives of the three organizations agreed to develop a joint program that connects the strengths of higher education institutions, innovation ecosystem support units, and farmer representative organizations. This partnership is expected to provide a foundation for research, technology transfer, digital skills training, and startup support in urban agriculture.

One of the key topics discussed was the Agrishare project, a digital platform aimed at driving digital transformation in agriculture. Representing HUTECH, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Director of the Center for Project Design and Innovation, presented the project’s development orientation and proposed areas of cooperation in training, research, technology transfer, and resource connection.

Continuing the program, Dr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Head of Computer Science at HUTECH’s Faculty of Information Technology, introduced the technical model, data architecture, and development direction of Agrishare. The system is designed to support efficient data management, connection, and utilization, enhancing governance capacity, promoting digital transformation in agriculture, and building a smart urban agriculture data platform.

Based on the presentations, delegates discussed approaches to building, managing, and operating the data system. Many emphasized the need for synchronization, scalability, effective data sharing mechanisms, and practical application, aiming to create a highly usable digital platform aligned with modern and sustainable urban agriculture development.

Ms. Dang Thi Luan, Director of SIHUB, affirmed readiness to accompany HUTECH and the Farmers’ Association in implementing the cooperation program. She suggested identifying priority needs to focus resources on key tasks, then gradually expanding into a comprehensive innovation ecosystem. SIHUB will also coordinate training programs on innovation, connect with startup incubation initiatives, the Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Development Fund, expert networks, businesses, and provide support in intellectual property and product development.

From a technical and operational standpoint, Mr. Vuong Dinh Thanh, Vice Director of SIHUB in charge of the Binh Duong branch, recommended aligning the program with science, technology, and digital transformation policies. He proposed designing tasks to form a unified ecosystem and prioritizing cloud computing or data center infrastructure solutions to optimize costs, improve efficiency, and ensure long-term system sustainability.

Representatives of the Farmers’ Association shared plans to implement the “City of a Thousand Flowers” program, encouraging residents to build green, clean, and beautiful urban landscapes, make effective use of public spaces, and spread environmental awareness. Additionally, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Head of the Socio-Economic Committee, suggested integrating the “Digital Literacy for All” program, prioritizing training for skilled farmers and piloting exemplary models in each competition cluster before scaling up.

Speaking at the session, Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh, Vice President of HUTECH, agreed on the main directions, including building a prototype of the Agrishare platform as a basis for implementation, finalizing a detailed cooperation plan with specific tasks, and prioritizing training for Farmers’ Association staff before expanding to members. The parties will also work on establishing a cooperation agreement between HUTECH, the Farmers’ Association, and SIHUB, laying the groundwork for long-term collaboration.
