Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has marked a significant milestone in international collaboration and research by receiving a €55,000 research grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, one of the most prestigious scientific funding organizations in the world, together with its strategic partner, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), Federal Republic of Germany.
The grant supports an interdisciplinary research project co-led by Prof. Klaus Hackl from RUB and Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Director of the CIRTech Institute at HUTECH. Scheduled to run from January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026, the project focuses on studying and simulating bio-inspired structures for applications in renewable energy. Notably, the project integrates artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing technology, computational simulation software, and advanced monitoring systems, highlighting its interdisciplinary nature and strong potential for groundbreaking, real-world applications.
Serving as the key link between HUTECH and RUB, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hung is a globally recognized scientist with numerous outstanding achievements in computational mechanics. He has maintained a long-standing collaborative relationship with the Humboldt Foundation and was honored with the Georg Forster Research Award, a distinction awarded to scientists who have made exceptional contributions to international research collaboration. Notably, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Hung is also the youngest Vietnamese researcher to have ever received this prestigious award, further affirming his standing and influence within the global scientific community.
