HUTECH strengthens academic, educational, and local development connections with Philippine partners

On August 28, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed a 33-member delegation from the Philippines for a working session to discuss potential areas of cooperation and explore opportunities to strengthen connections between the University and local governments and educational institutions in the Philippines.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, expressed her hope that the visit would create opportunities to build stronger connections, exchange insights into educational models, and identify suitable areas of cooperation between HUTECH and local governments and educational institutions in the Philippines, particularly Siargao Island Institute of Technology (SIIT). On this occasion, HUTECH provided an overview of its academic environment and key areas of strength, particularly Tourism and Hospitality, with the University’s Hospitality & Leisure Management subject ranked among the world’s Top 151-175 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

Building on the needs and strengths of both sides, the participants discussed a range of potential collaborative activities, including workshops, seminar series, professional development programs, exchanges for students, faculty members, and experts, expanded internship opportunities, and community-based projects tailored to the practical needs of individual localities.

Both sides discussed potential cooperation in academic activities, exchanges, and community-based projects

Tourism and Hospitality was among the areas that attracted particular interest. The Philippine delegation expressed its interest in connecting with HUTECH experts to exchange experience, provide consultation, and propose solutions for tourism development, promotion, and visitor attraction in Siargao and other tourism destinations across the Philippines.

The Philippine delegation discussed solutions for local tourism development with HUTECH
 
The delegates also showed interest in career and professional development opportunities at HUTECH, doctoral study pathways, and opportunities for research and teaching at the University. Following these discussions, HUTECH invited Philippine faculty members and experts to participate in Expert Talks, workshops, and online academic exchange sessions, helping maintain professional connections and create further opportunities for academic collaboration in the future.

Based on the areas discussed, both sides agreed to further develop their proposed areas of cooperation, with the aim of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize collaborative activities in the future.
