At the meeting on September 10, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Viet, Director of the CIRTech Institute and Head of the Department of Science and Technology, introduced HUTECH’s key research directions in carbon neutrality, emerging energy technologies, and solutions with potential for practical application. Developed through an interdisciplinary approach, these areas provide a foundation for the University to connect its expertise with international research partners.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Viet presents HUTECH’s key research directions

Prof. Deepak Dubal from the Sustainable Energy Materials Lab at QUT introduced the lab and its research areas, including battery materials, energy storage, supercapacitors, lithium-metal batteries, solid-state batteries, and battery recycling. Notably, the use of agricultural waste to develop carbon materials for energy storage devices demonstrates the potential to connect materials technology with clean energy and the circular economy.

Prof. Deepak Dubal presents research directions in materials for sustainable energy storage

Prof. Vincent Hoang from the School of Economics and Finance at QUT also shared insights into QUT’s multidisciplinary research ecosystem, encompassing materials science, agriculture and the bioeconomy, biomedical technology, data science, and energy transition. Shared interests in materials, batteries, renewable energy, and energy transition create multiple opportunities for the two universities to jointly develop research initiatives with both scientific value and practical applications.

Building on their shared areas of expertise, HUTECH and QUT agreed to further discuss the development of joint research projects, co-authored international publications, and co-supervision of master’s and doctoral students. The two universities also considered jointly preparing proposals for research funding opportunities in Australia and Australia-Vietnam cooperation programs, expanding opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in international projects.

HUTECH invites two QUT professors to participate in GSETS 2027, strengthening academic connections and energy research collaboration
 
On this occasion, HUTECH invited the two QUT professors to participate as keynote speakers at GSETS 2027, hosted by the University. Their participation is expected to foster academic exchange, strengthen connections among experts, and lay the groundwork for joint projects in energy materials, battery recycling, energy storage, and emerging energy technologies.
